Mississippi licenses manufacturers of HUD-code factory-built homes — built to the federal HUD manufactured housing standards — through the State Fire Marshal’s Office under the Factory-Built Homes Act (Miss. Code § 75-49-1 et seq.). The State Fire Marshal’s Office administers manufactured-home regulation under contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Fire Marshal’s bonding regulation (19 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 7, Ch. 4, Rule 4.05, as amended effective July 1, 2026) sets the manufacturer bond at $500,000 per licensed facility, with a $1,000,000 minimum for three or more facilities — twenty times the pre-July 2026 figures of $25,000 and $50,000. The bond stands behind your compliance with the Act and protects the public harmed by a manufacturer’s violation of the licensing law.
