What the gaming bond actually covers

Mississippi licenses gaming establishments under the Mississippi Gaming Control Act (Miss. Code § 75-76-1 et seq.), administered by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. As a condition of issuing a license, the Commission can require the applicant to post a bond payable to the State of Mississippi.

Under Miss. Code § 75-76-85, the bond is conditioned upon the payment of license fees, taxes, penalties, interest, and fines, and upon the faithful performance of all requirements imposed by law, regulation, or the conditions of the license. The amount is set by the Commission, so it varies by establishment.

An applicant may deposit cash or another form of security the Commission authorizes in lieu of a bond — but the surety bond costs a fraction of tying up that much capital. If the establishment defaults, the state can recover against the bond, and if the surety pays, you repay the surety. Enter the amount the Commission set; pricing is variable, from $100, and the application collects no credit information.

Miss. Code § 75-76-85Under the Mississippi Gaming Control Act, Miss. Code § 75-76-85 lets the Mississippi Gaming Commission require, as a condition of a gaming license, a bond executed by the applicant as principal and a qualified surety, payable to the State of Mississippi and conditioned upon the payment of license fees, taxes, penalties, interest, and fines and the faithful performance of all requirements imposed by law, regulation, or the conditions of the license. Cash or other authorized security may be deposited in lieu; the amount is set by the Commission.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much is the Mississippi gaming bond? The price is 2% of your bond amount, $100 minimum. The amount itself is set by the Gaming Commission as a condition of your license, so it varies. Enter the figure the Commission set and see your exact price at the application.
What does the bond guarantee? It backs the payment of license fees, taxes, penalties, interest, and fines, and the faithful performance of all requirements imposed by law, regulation, or the conditions of your license. If you default, the state can recover against the bond.
Is there a credit check? The application collects no credit information at the amounts shown — most applications approve instantly. Larger bond amounts may get a quick soft-pull review, which never affects your credit score.
Can I post cash instead?Yes — the statute lets you deposit cash or another form of security the Commission authorizes in lieu of a bond. Most licensees use the surety bond rather than tie up the full amount in cash.
Who sets the amount? The Mississippi Gaming Commission sets the bond amount as a condition of your license. Confirm the figure on your licensing correspondence, or send it to us and we will issue the bond at that amount.
