A Louisiana public license tag agent with one office must file a $100,000 bond with the Office of Motor Vehicles. Ours is $1,000 flat — the price you see is the checkout price, identical for every agent. A quick soft credit check may apply — never a hard inquiry; the bond is issued when you pay.

Your OMV contract is waiting on this bond. Here's the entire process — no broker phone tag:
Business details, ownership, effective date. That is the application — the only extra step is a one-time consent to a soft credit pull.
Most are approved as soon as you apply. The credit check is a soft pull that never affects your score. If it needs a second look, one to two business days at most.
Pay online and receive the executed bond ready to file with OMV. Wet-ink originals mailed whenever the office insists.
A Louisiana public license tag agent contracts with the Office of Motor Vehicles to process vehicle registrations, titles, and plate transactions for the public. Under La. R.S. 47:532.1, a tag agent (other than a local government or state agency) must execute a surety bond naming the OMV as obligee.
The bond is conditioned on the agent timely filing all applications it takes in, and timely remitting all fees and taxes it collects, to the OMV. If the agent collects public money and fails to deliver the applications, fees, or taxes, the state can recover against the bond.
The amount is set by statute by the number of offices: $100,000 for an agent with a single office, and $125,000 for an agent with more than one office. This page is the $100,000 single-office bond. If the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety.
These are the actual underwriting fields, including a one-time consent to a soft credit pull. Submit once and your bond is issued when you pay.
