Oregon licenses landscaping businesses through its dedicated Landscape Contractors Board (LCB), and conditions the license on a surety bond under ORS 671.690. The $15,000 amount applies to larger projects — generally jobs between $25,000 and $50,000 — and to probationary businesses.
The bond guarantees you complete work properly and meet your payment obligations under ORS Chapter 671. If you fail to perform or pay as the law requires, an injured owner or worker can recover against the bond up to the $15,000 penal sum.
If you’re a smaller or standard-tier applicant, the LCB may instead require the $3,000 tier; the top tier runs up to $20,000. If you’re unsure which amount applies, send us your LCB application and we’ll confirm before issuing.
