A commercial co-venturer in Alabama — a business that advertises that a purchase will benefit a charity — must register with the Attorney General and file a $10,000 bond under Code of Ala. § 13A-9-71. Ours is $150 flat — set by our carrier’s rate book for this bond — and the application collects no credit information.

Registration bonds like this are the simplest thing in surety. Here’s the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials and no credit section on this application.
Fixed-amount bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with the Attorney General’s registration. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
A commercial co-venturer is a business that runs a charitable sales promotion — advertising that buying its product or service will benefit a named charity. Alabama regulates these promotions under the charitable-solicitation provisions of Code of Ala. § 13A-9-71, administered by the Attorney General.
To register, the co-venturer files a $10,000 bond in which it is the principal obligor. The bond runs to the Attorney General for the use of the state and to any person with a cause of action against the obligor for malfeasance or misfeasance in the conduct of the solicitation — so the public and the benefiting charities have a financial backstop.
Registration runs for one year, expiring September 30, and is renewed by re-filing the bond and fee. It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. We track the bond and notify you 60 and 30 days before expiration so your registration stays current.
These are the actual issuing fields — the application collects no credit information.
