The Project comprises the supply, installation and testing of a new fiber optic
cabling system on the Knowledge Corridor Rail Line (approximately 50 miles of active railroad),
as described in Document/Section 01010 of the Technical Specifications. As noted in
Document/Section 01010, certain items will be supplied by the Department and will be installed
and tested by the Contractor.
Pre-Bid Conference: Pre-Bid Meeting, which will be held at 10:00 am. on July 16,
2026, at the MassDOT South Deerfield Office, 236 Greenfield Rd, South Deerfield, MA 01373.
The contractor must supply, install and test a new fiber optic cabling system along approximately 50 miles of active railroad on the Knowledge Corridor Rail Line. Certain items will be supplied by the Department and installed and tested by the Contractor. Work includes coordination with MassDOT for work on the Connecticut River Bridge, obtaining Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) safety training from Berkshire & Eastern RR, and complying with all railroad right-of-way requirements.
