The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MADMF) announces the availability of grant funds to provide recreational boaters with facilities to prevent waste disposal into public marine waterways and improve recreational boating opportunities. Funding for the MA Clean Vessel Act comes from the USFWS - OCI Federal Clean Vessel Act Program.
The grant funds the construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of pumpout and dump stations, including floating restrooms, for recreational vessels in MA coastal waters. Eligible projects include holding tanks, piping, haulage, and bleed-in facilities to transport sewage to treatment plants. Ineligible activities include upland restrooms, onsite sewage treatment plants, and pumpout stations in freshwater systems. Grantees must match 25% of costs, submit invoices with required documentation, and acknowledge funding sources.
