The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is soliciting Letters of Interest from parties interested in the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) package for this Design-Build Project

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the design and construction of a replacement bridge carrying I-391 over Chicopee Street (State Route 116) in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The bridge will provide a minimum 100-year design life. Work below the bridge includes landscaping, park restoration/rehabilitation, sidewalk reconstruction, parking lot construction, lighting, drainage improvements, pavement milling and overlay and striping. The project also includes minor roadway reconstruction of I-391 approaches to the bridge, median barrier reconstruction and milling and overlay within the project limits. Work below the bridge includes sidewalk reconstruction, pedestrian curb ramp reconstruction, lighting improvements, parking lot reconstruction, park rehabilitation, landscaping and pavement milling and overlay along Chicopee Street, Margaret Street, Perrault Street, Whitman Street, and St. Louis Avenue. The project includes the construction of the proposed I-391 Bridge over Chicopee Street (State Route 116). The proposed bridge will be approximately 690 feet long and will be constructed along the same alignment as the existing bridge. Approximately 175 feet of retaining wall construction will be required at the North end of the structure. The work will involve relocation of two lanes of travel from I-391 Northbound to the existing I-391 Southbound bridge for Stage 1. Stage 2 will relocate two Southbound and two Northbound lanes to the newly constructed Northbound bridge. Two lanes of traffic on I-391 in each direction shall remain in service during construction. The project includes the adjustment of manhole covers, gates and guy wires as well as installation of new lighting below the bridge. Bridge lighting pedestals/conduit will be provided on the proposed bridge. The project includes design and construction of new stormwater management facilities at the approaches to the bridge and in the parking areas below the bridge.
