MSHA needs to modify and replace hall entry doors that are too narrow for accessible entry with the addition of automatic openers integrated into the access control system to be operated by PIV cards for entry.
The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary to widen the hall entry doors for four lodging rooms designated as accessible at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy. Specific tasks include replacing two door frames and doors for rooms B11 and B13 to meet ADA guidelines, ensuring a minimum clear opening width of 32 inches, installing fire-rated doors (minimum 60 minutes), integrating automatic openers with the PIV card access control system, and installing dedicated power circuits from the main dorm hallway to the stairwell of B hallway (approximately 175 feet). A site survey is recommended.
