POLAR Neutron Detectors

The contractor shall supply and deliver eighty-five (85) neutron proportional counters of 8 mm outer diameter and 150 mm active length, inclusive of FOB Destination delivery terms and a 1-year warranty. The counters must have a stainless steel tube body, a flying lead anode connection of at least 610 mm, and a target neutron sensitivity of 90% for 5 meV neutrons using 3He with CO2 and Ar quench gases. The contractor must also submit a bill of materials with lead times, design drawings, and a point of contact document. Deliverables include the counters (NLT 4 months ARO), contractor POC document (NLT 1 week ARO), bill of materials (NLT 2 weeks after acceptance of final design), and design drawings (initial draft NLT 3 weeks after receipt of order). Delivery is FOB Destination to NIST, 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899.
