The contractor shall furnish Board Certified/Board Eligible nephrologist(s) to provide comprehensive nephrology services on-site at the Robert J. Dole VAMC. Services include a half-day outpatient clinic on Thursdays (1pm-5pm), on-call coverage including telephonic response (estimated 3,184 hours per year), and weekend/holiday rounds when on call (estimated 64 hours per year). The physician must be available within 15 minutes by phone and on-site within 60 minutes when on call. Duties include evaluation and management of acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, end stage kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte disorders, hypertension, nephrolithiasis, kidney transplant patients, and extracorporeal treatments. The contractor must provide coverage during vacancies within 2 hours and maintain a contingency plan for key personnel.
