The project consists of two new 50,000 barrel bulk storage tanks built to the USAFE/NATO 'cut-and-cover' standard design, each with a dedicated pump vault and associated pumping equipment, and one standby generator serving both tanks. It also includes a new 18 inch diameter JP-5 cargo fuel pipeline with metering to transport fuel between Pier 3 and the Bulk Tank Farm, using the existing Utility Bridge to cross the Rio Salado River and Horizontal Directional Drilling to re-route existing pipeline under Arroya del Salado. Electrical utilities include electrical distribution, communications distribution, site lighting, lightning protection, and cathodic protection for tanks and pipeline. The project includes associated site and civil work, removal of out-of-service piping, HazMat surveying and testing, and removal and proper disposal of contaminated soil and/or hazardous materials found on the fuel piping.
