Cableway Crane Refurbishment

The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and services to refurbish the 150-ton cableway crane at Hoover Dam. Principal work includes replacing six 3½-inch track wire ropes (approximately 1,600 feet each) with sockets installed; replacing two ¾-inch button line wire ropes and button line tensioners; replacing 1-1/8-inch inhaul, outhaul, and hoist wire ropes; refurbishing the existing carriage including inspection, replacement of bearings and wear items, and cleaning/painting; redesigning slack carrier eye areas and installing slack carriers; replacing all sheaves (guide, fall block, carriage, and tower sheaves); lubricating hoist house mechanical components and tower sheaves with specified lubricants; re-tensioning track cables to specified loads; replacing the 60-ton hydraulic jack, oil tank, hand pump, and copper hydraulic lines on the Nevada side tensioning system; performing a 125% capacity load test with water bags or solid weights in accordance with ASME B30.2; and performing an annual inspection and certifying the crane. Contractor must perform at least 15% of total work on-site with own organization. All work must comply with Federal Specification RR-W-410 for wire rope, ASTM standards for materials, AWS standards for welding, and ASME B30 standards for crane work. Work shall be completed within 850 calendar days of contract award, with material procurement in year one and onsite installation in year two beginning May 2028.
