The Art in Transit Program is seeking the services of a professional art conservator specialist to assess the condition of WMATA's art collection, make recommendations regarding maintenance and repairs as needed, and provide training to WMATA maintenance staff regarding basic maintenance of artworks.
The contractor will evaluate and document WMATA's artwork conditions, develop condition assessment reports identifying conditions and appropriate conservation and/or restoration corrective actions, address lighting where applicable, and repair or replace fifty-six (56) artwork elements. The artworks are installed at 36 Metrorail stations across DC, MD, and VA, and vary in materials including porcelain enamel steel, painted steel, bronze, aluminum, ceramics, glass, marble, granite, wood, paint, cement, fiberglass, and electronic elements.
