The project addresses ageing infrastructure, insufficient pumping capacity, lack of redundancy, and vulnerability to flooding. This includes the replacement and upgrade of existing pumping equipment at the pump station, including the replacement of five 13MGD pumps, three sump pumps, two sluice gates and one manual bar rack. There will also be the replacement of the pump suction piping and valves, pump discharge piping to header and valves, pump around connection piping, surge relief valve and piping and sump pump discharge piping. This project will also install a new 48-inch ductile iron force main via open cut and microtunnelling installation, and the existing 42-inch cast iron force main will be inspected and rehabilitated. A valve chamber will be constructed to allow either force main to be used. There will also be the installation of 60" RCP sewer pipe and tie-in to 60" West interceptor. A new one-story above-grade structure will be constructed for flood protection and climate resiliency, including site modifications. Electrical and Power systems will be comprehensively upgraded, including new motor control centers, upgraded power distribution equipment, and a new 480-Volt power service. The scope also includes replacement of HVAC, plumbing, instrumentation, controls, and pump control systems, as well as structural repairs, safety upgrades, and wet well modifications.
