NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS
Subject: Invitation to Bid on Purchase Order Contract DM00529

Project Description: Pedestrian Improvements, Curb Ramps, and Driveway Upgrades Along Various
Routes in Madison and Yancey Counties
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting bids for pedestrian improvements, curb
ramps, and driveway upgrades along various routes in Madison and Yancey Counties to be let at 2:00 PM
on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
The availability date for this project is November 30, 2026.
The completion date for this project is June 30, 2028.
Bids for this project must be submitted electronically. Refer to the Instructions to Bidders in the
proposal for more information.
Firms that wish to perform work on Division Purchase Order Contracts as either the prime contractor or
as a subcontractor on the project must be prequalified for the type work they wish to perform. Firms that
wish to bid on these projects as the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to submitting your bid.
Firms that wish to perform as a subcontractor to the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to
beginning work on the project.
Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified as a Bidder or PO Prime
Contractor prior to submitting a bid.
The work includes pedestrian improvements, curb ramps, and driveway upgrades along various routes in Madison and Yancey Counties. Major contract items include 6" concrete driveway, remove and replace concrete curb ramps, and remove 4" concrete sidewalk. Specialty items include permanent pavement markers. The project also includes detectable warning surface at curb ramps, high strength concrete for driveways, and work zone traffic control.
