BRIDGE REPAIR - SLATE MINE ROAD AT PINE LOG CREEK

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners is accepting sealed written bids from qualified contractors for the bridge repair on Slate Mine Road at Pine Log Creek. This project consists of repairing concrete by locating existing reinforcing steel and miscellaneous concrete embedments; saw cutting concrete; removing deteriorated concrete and/or existing patch material; and installing concrete patch material. Work also includes bridge painting (cleaning and repainting beams), adding rip-rap as directed, cleaning and resealing deck joints, and realigning bearings/repairing anchor bolts. All work must be performed in accordance with specifications, plans, and engineering directions.

1. ADD: Special Provision 518 – Raise Existing Bridge (Revised June 17, 2026).
   See pages 2 & 3.
2. ADD the following GENERAL NOTES
   Rip rap is shown in plans “As directed by Engineer” and intended to
   address GDOT inspection finding with location listed as: “Bent 2 pier wall
   footer and the forward bank.” Final locations and quantities will be
   determined “As directed by Engineer” based on site conditions at the time
   of repair. The existing slope is not to be regraded prior to placing rip rap.
   No material shall be salvaged. The contractor shall dispose of materials
   from the existing bridge structures. There are no suitable areas for
   disposal of materials on the project
   Asphalt repairs are not included in the scope of work of this contract. The
   contractor shall sawcut the existing asphalt overlay.
   The realignment of the bearings and repair of anchor bolts are associated
   with the spall repair locations. Anchor bolts may be repaired in
   accordance with Activity 830.17 – Anchor Bolt Repair; OR, by Contractor
   proposed alternate accepted by the County.
   The contractor shall submit for acceptance Shop Drawings containing the
   proposed repair procedure, sequence of operations, temporary supports,
   and jacking plan.
