To retain private and/or municipal firearms training facilities located throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to train, qualify and certify new recruits in firearms and rifles. The program is a 56-hour program that includes 40 hours on the range and 16 hours in a classroom. The MPTC is responsible for training approximately 24,000 law enforcement officers.
Every law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth is required to qualify annually in firearms/rifles to maintain their certificate.
