The Agency is procuring laboratory services to conduct alpha spectroscopy analysis on soil samples.
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) is requesting laboratory services to conduct alpha spectroscopy analysis on soil samples collected as part of a uranium and thorium contamination investigation. Two separate samples will be collected from approximately 50 locations involved in the investigation and approximately 5 background locations. One sample from each location will be submitted for alpha spectroscopy analysis of radionuclides in the Uranium-238 decay chain (U-238, U-234, Th-230). The second sample from each location will be submitted for alpha spectroscopy analysis of radionuclides in the Thorium-232 decay chain (Th-232, Th-228). The total number of samples expected to be analyzed is approximately 110. Laboratory services required include sample receipt/chain of custody documentation, sample analysis, analytical report and/or certificate of analysis, quality control documentation, and disposal of residual sample materials.

Most Illinois work asks for the two below, and the solicitation documents are where it’s stated. One prequalification covers both — on this bid and the next.
A surety’s written statement that it expects to bond you up to a stated amount, subject to final underwriting. It’s what an agency asks to see before they take your bid seriously.
