Battelle is contemplating the procurement of a portable X-band phased array radar (PAR) to support the ARM user facility in storm tracking and uncrewed aerial system (UAS) operations.
This radar must be easily re-deployable because it will be moved periodically among ARM observatory locations. Set-up time should be on the order of or less than a day to accommodate flexible siting requirements per the attached technical specification.
Battelle seeks information on a portable X-band phased array radar that must be easily re-deployable, with set-up time of a day or less. The radar must meet base physical requirements including X-band wavelength, measurements of reflected power and Doppler velocity, effective beamwidth <= 2°, pedestal rotating 360° at >= 5 rpm, electronic scans +/- 45° horizontal and +/- 15° vertical, minimum sensitivity ~25 dBZ at 30 km, internal calibration, and operation in wind up to 50 mph and temperatures from -50°C to 50°C. The radar must include software for beam shaping, standard weather scans, target tracking, and external command control. Respondents are asked to provide a cover letter, executive summary, company information, and experience, and to answer specific questions about lead time, cost, and design options.
