SPECIAL Radiation Safety Officer Services

The contractor shall provide a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to manage the Radiation Protection Program at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Specific tasks include identifying radiation protection problems, initiating corrective actions, verifying implementation of corrective actions, stopping unsafe activities, and providing Radiation Safety Officer Training Services to include training and mentoring to a new RSO. The RSO must provide all required written attestations, documentation, and training logs necessary for the VA to successfully amend its facility license with the NHPP/NRC. The contractor shall complete and provide oversight for the radiation program through periodic reviews and audits, including annual radiation safety program review, quarterly Nuclear Medicine Department audits, and sealed source inventories. The contractor shall ensure compliance with posting requirements, manage waste disposal, prepare license renewals and amendments, and provide transition assistance upon termination or expiration of the agreement.
